WHAT CLIENTS SAY
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Life Coaching?
The coaching conversation is designed to shed light on your blind spots, provide new perspectives, identify your innermost values, and to take action on moving toward the person you wish to become.
The goal is for you, the client, to walk away from a coaching engagement lighter, more focused, confident and with a new set of tools to move forward.
How does it work?
We will speak once per week for about an hour and there will be recommended “homework” consisting of exercises, books or websites to help with specific areas that you are stuck.
There is unlimited email support between sessions.
How long does a Life Coaching engagement last?
Usually around 2-3 months (8-12 sessions) clients are “done.” This means we’ve unblocked the heavy stuff, and you have the clarity, confidence and tools to move forward.
You are super-excited about your direction, and if we had another session, there would be nothing to talk about because you’d already be taking action.
You decide when the coaching engagement ends, not me.
How is the Life Coaching Process structured?
The modern coaching process is “non-linear.” We won’t know what’s beyond the hill in front of us until we walk up it to see what’s on the other side.
If there were an exact recipe to follow, I would have just written a book and closed up shop.
How much does it cost?
To my knowledge, I am the only coach who offers a client-focused pricing structure. Instead of a per-session fee (where it is unclear how much you will end up paying), I charge a single fee, and my clients have unlimited weekly sessions until they reach their goal.
Due to this single-fee structure, it is directly in my interest to get you on your path ASAP. Ethical Life Coaching supplies clients with the tools for independence, not using the relationship as a long-term crutch.
What if I'm international? Can I still work with you?
I’ve worked with clients all over the world for the last 20 years.
My booking system makes it easy to find a time that works, and we can use an alternative communication platform/software if cell phone access is difficult or costly.
How do I pay?
When you click “Activate” on our simple one-page agreement, you will automatically be sent a PayPal invoice and have immediate access to schedule upcoming sessions.
Alternatively, you can mail a check – my retired CPA on staff (aka “Dad”) absolutely loves depositing business funds into my local Houston account.
What if it doesn't work?
If I did my part and you did your part, and somehow things don’t work, there is a 100% money-back guarantee written in bold in our agreement.
How do I prepare for my sessions?
Fill out the pre-session questonnaire.
Make sure you’re in a private place with no distractions. Let family or co-workers know that you will be unavailable and please set your phone to “Do Not Disturb” mode.
Can I skip a week?
In coaching, the client sets the agenda. While I recommend sticking to a weekly schedule, you decide when is best for the next session.
Can I reschedule a session?
Of course! My online booking system is simple and easy to use – reschedule at your convenience.
What can I expect during a trial session?
I’ll tell you about how I work and what I do as a coach, a bit about my background, and then we’ll spend the bulk of our time focusing on you and the changes you want to make in your life.
By the end of our trial session, you’ll walk away with new tools and perspectives and we’ll determine whether coaching is the thing for you and whether I’m the coach for you.
I very much look forward to our conversation.
Does Life Coaching by phone really work?
Aside from the benefits of avoiding traffic, working by phone is much more effective than video and for some clients even better than face-to-face.
When talking about sensitive issues where you may feel vulnerable, not being seen helps us to get to the heart of the issue faster and with less discomfort.
