Life Coaching

You’ve tried lots of things, you’ve read lots of books. Maybe you’ve paid for an expensive seminar or an online course, but nothing seems to work.

You know that you want to progress from where you are, but for some reason, you’re still in the same place you were months or even years ago.

You’re stuck in one of two places:

  1. You know what you want, but something is holding you back from taking action.

2. You’re not sure what you want, but you’re 100% certain it isn’t where you are right now. You’re not quite sure where to start.

“Paul’s coaching sessions are invaluable; they will change your life”

Two years after a devastating divorce I was still stuck in the same belief systems and behaviors that weren’t working. Coming across Paul’s website in the wee small and lonely hours of the morning was the best thing that happened to me in a long time. Paul is insightful, thought-provoking, easy-going, and funny. He helped me cut through the nonsense of the old patterns and begin to see life as something wonderful, hopeful, and joyful. I will be forever grateful. I simply can’t say it too loudly or too often: Paul’s coaching sessions are invaluable; they will change your life.

“one of the best decisions that I have ever made”

Paul is really wonderful to talk to and gave me a lot of mentorship and guidance as I moved across the country to find and take on a new career opportunity. He also helped me to reframe and refocus my personal relationships with my parents and my partner, and give me a number of tools and techniques in order to be able to respond to negative circumstances with a focus on positive growth. Investing in myself by hiring Paul to help me to reach higher goals and make major breakthroughs was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Paul can help you to get to where you want to be.

I’ve really enjoyed working with Paul over the last couple months. I didn’t have any experience with life/executive coaching prior to this, but I can honestly say the experience has been very beneficial from a personal and professional standpoint. I would highly recommend Paul to anyone looking to hire a life and/or executive coach.

“encouraging in a way that stayed with me long after we talked”

Paul was very easy to relate to, and had a very strong sense of self-knowledge – I profoundly recommend him, as I feel he would work well in any type of professional dynamic or relationship. Well-spoken, agreeable, and encouraging in a way that stayed with me long after we talked.

I feel as if Paul would be a good resource in the life of any professional, and in the lives of those who consider themselves to be self-aware, entrepreneurial, and dynamic.

“cut off the baggage that’s holding back the solution”

I’ve worked with Paul for 10 years and value his feedback, business/personal coaching, accountability, and friendship. Paul has an amazing ability to frame life’s challenges in a way that never pushes you towards an answer, but rather allows you to cut off the baggage that’s holding back the solution.

“…a life changing experience.”

I had the pleasure of partnering with Paul Strobl for life coaching. It has been a life changing experience. I have worked with counselors and coaches in the past, but his approach truly worked best for me. He is able to carefully listen and pick the best tools that improve my cognitive reasoning and decision management. He shared books and articles after sessions that helped solidify these concepts. He is also very personable and kind and feels like talking to a wise friend. I frequently reflect back on things I learned from him along the way. I wish him the best in his endeavors, he is passionate about what he does and great at it.

My experience with Paul was amazing! He is insightful, intelligent, humorous, and pleasant. His coaching skills are excellent – the sessions are just conversations, but before you know it you have come to a realization or a decision about an action seemingly without effort!!! Speaking with Paul is like talking with an old friend, who just happens to be an amazing coach! I highly recommend taking the time to contact him and have a conversation!!

“very worthwhile”

Paul is an excellent life coach and truly helped me find more balance in my life. Through his coaching I was able to relax and go with the flow of life more. Additionally, he helped me through a slump in passion for my career and I am now in an industry I love. I was also able to set healthy boundaries in my family in my friendships. I often go back to the notes I took during our sessions when I am needing a refresher and overall feel like obtaining his services was very worthwhile.

“enormous personal and professional success”

“I started working with Paul approximately 10 years ago. At the time, I was the project manager for a construction company, and then was promoted to Vice President and now the Director of Sales. He listened to my goals, helped me eliminate bad habits, time block for success, control my mindset and I have enjoyed enormous personal and professional success working with him. Highly recommend.”

“…helps you to get to your ‘Aha’ moments!”

When I started working with Paul, I was at a point in life where I knew I wanted a change but didn’t quite know how to proceed with making that happen. Also, I was dealing with some past issues that were hindering me from moving forward. During our second meeting, Paul gave me an assignment to do to address one of my past issues. As soon we hung up, I completed that assignment and have been free ever since!! From that point, we begin to navigate the path to the change I was desiring. After each meeting, I made a step toward that change. Today, I am on the path to realizing that change!!  I would highly recommend Paul to anyone looking to hire a life and/or executive coach. He’s a great listener and helps you to get to your ‘Aha’ moments!

“I could not have been more happy with the outcome”

Paul helped me change my life in a big way! He came well recommended by valued professional colleagues and took me through a very deliberate process to help understand and refine my approach to important career and personal choices. I could not have been more happy with the outcome and I continue to use the life coaching tools he showed me.

“a wealth of experience from a broad array of professional pursuits and personal endeavors”

I was looking for a change and more fulfillment when I sought a life coach. I did some coaching a few years back on the recommendation of a friend. It was a bit too much theory and very systematic. Paul’s approach has so far been more natural. He has a wealth of experience from a broad array of professional pursuits and personal endeavors that provides a richness to his coaching. He uses excellent communication skills to identify and listen to what I share. Importantly, he gives me the space to express all the things that I otherwise may not express to friends or family. He’s given me perspective on relationships that have been problematic and helped me to explore self-doubt and other sand bags holding me down. The “homework” is tangible and relevant. Many folks I talk to about my experience are very curious, and some of them are seeking their own coaches and/or the resources he’s recommended. I would recommend Paul to anyone looking to explore their personal and professional lives from another angle and who need a change agent. There is no magic pill, and it’s an ongoing process, but I am starting to remove barriers I didn’t know existed, and I’m enjoying the process!

“true insights that break self-imposed barriers”

He has the uncanny ability to nurture a conversation with you so that you feel comfortable extracting the truth about your life, your relationships, and your beliefs. His intuitive listening skills allow him to ask you the tough, but necessary questions so that you gain true insights that break self-imposed barriers that hold you back personally and professionally.

“helped me to adjust the lens through which I see myself and the world around me”

I began the experience of life-coaching expecting concrete answers to specific questions. And I didn’t exactly get those answers. BUT in a “teach a man to fish” sense, I did learn some very handy tools to help me approach these (and any future questions) more strategically. Our conversations helped me to adjust the lens through which I see myself and the world around me. So even though I may find myself with my same (or even more!) questions, I feel more confident about my ability to work with them, through them or even love them.

“I highly recommend”

He’s intuitive, sensitive, knowledgeable, an excellent listener and I whilst I don’t know what his approach is with other clients, I really gel with him and it feels like his interaction with me is tailored to suit my personality and my individual needs. This is particularly marked for me given that we are from different cultures and continents. In short, I highly recommend.

The Life Coaching Process

My process is simple and straight forward.

We will have a conversation where we’ll be “scanning” for unhelpful ways of thinking that are holding you back.  We’ll identify which are most important to address right now, and work to undo them so they’re no longer in your way.

This may include identifying your limiting beliefs – what I call the “gunk” stuck in your filter between your thoughts and the outside world.  Some powerful thought processes are lurking there that were heavily influenced by your culture and upbringing.

Through the coaching conversation, your limiting beliefs will either be completely gone or significantly reduced to a point that they do not affect you in any meaningful way.

Another skill you will learn is a type of detachment where you’ll be able to step back from the jerk narrating the play-by-play in your head, and learn to simply observe what’s going on.  This detachment can be extremely liberating and is a big part of dropping the sandbags, and will supply our raw material to dive into in sessions.

In order to make the changes stick, we will also work with the habits and processes that work best for you with an understanding of your own wiring; how to re-frame situations and lighten your load with your own resources.

We will repeat this process as often as necessary.

After several iterations, you will start to have some real clarity and we will work together to create your plan going forward–something that really taps into your inspiration.

With these sandbags cut, you will then have the tools to face any future setbacks or obstacles, as we will have put together a game plan of how to keep these changes conscious and make things stick.  Any prior lack of confidence, autonomy or clarity will fade away.

As hokey as it may sound, the sky really is the limit once you cut yourself free.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Life Coaching?

The coaching conversation is designed to shed light on your blind spots, provide new perspectives, identify your innermost values, and to take action on moving toward the person you wish to become.

The goal is for you, the client, to walk away from a coaching engagement lighter, more focused, confident and with a new set of tools to move forward.

How does it work?

We will speak once per week for about an hour and there will be recommended "homework" consisting of exercises, books or websites to help with specific areas that you are stuck.

There is unlimited email support between sessions.

How long does a Life Coaching engagement last?

Usually around 2-3 months (8-12 sessions) clients are "done." This means we've unblocked the heavy stuff, and you have the clarity, confidence and tools to move forward.

You are super-excited about your direction, and if we had another session, there would be nothing to talk about because you'd already be taking action.

You decide when the coaching engagement ends, not me.

How is the Life Coaching Process structured?

The modern coaching process is "non-linear." We won't know what's beyond the hill in front of us until we walk up it to see what's on the other side.

If there were an exact recipe to follow, I would have just written a book and closed up shop.

How much does it cost?

To my knowledge, I am the only coach who offers a client-focused pricing structure. Instead of a per-session fee (where it is unclear how much you will end up paying), I charge a single fee, and my clients have unlimited weekly sessions until they reach their goal.

Due to this single-fee structure, it is directly in my interest to get you on your path ASAP. Ethical Life Coaching supplies clients with the tools for independence, not using the relationship as a long-term crutch.

What if I'm international? Can I still work with you?

I've worked with clients all over the world for the last 20 years.

My booking system makes it easy to find a time that works, and we can use an alternative communication platform/software if cell phone access is difficult or costly.

How do I pay?

When you click "Activate" on our simple one-page agreement, you will automatically be sent a PayPal invoice and have immediate access to schedule upcoming sessions.

Alternatively, you can mail a check - my retired CPA on staff (aka "Dad") absolutely loves depositing business funds into my local Houston account.

What if it doesn't work?

If I did my part and you did your part, and somehow things don’t work, there is a 100% money-back guarantee written in bold in our agreement.

How do I prepare for my sessions?

Fill out the pre-session questonnaire.

Make sure you're in a private place with no distractions. Let family or co-workers know that you will be unavailable and please set your phone to "Do Not Disturb" mode.

Can I skip a week?

In coaching, the client sets the agenda. While I recommend sticking to a weekly schedule, you decide when is best for the next session.

Can I reschedule a session?

Of course! My online booking system is simple and easy to use - reschedule at your convenience.

What can I expect during a trial session?

Does Life Coaching by phone really work?

Aside from the benefits of avoiding traffic, working by phone is much more effective than video and for some clients even better than face-to-face.

When talking about sensitive issues where you may feel vulnerable, not being seen helps us to get to the heart of the issue faster and with less discomfort.
