Frequently Asked Questions
What is Business Coaching?
Business Coaching helps align business vision with the your personal vision; an-ongoing process of taking a business from where it is today to where you want it to be in the future.
The job on the business coach is to help resolve bottlenecks through active listening, personal development, management & communication guidance, and to act as a strategic sounding board for business owners and top executives.
How does it work? How much does it cost?
Coaching sessions are about an hour and there may be recommended “homework” consisting of exercises, books or websites to help with specific areas that you are stuck to help with business or personal development issues.
Hourly rate varies between $250 and $350 per session depending on the scope of the project, and includes unlimited emailing and texting Monday through Friday.
How long does a Business Coaching engagement last?
After an initial 90-day provisional period, a renewable 1-year contract may be implemented for as long as the engagement adds value to your company.
How is the Business Coaching Process structured?
We establish goals within a framework customized to your personal and business vision. These goals are revisited along with current business or personal issues that are getting in the way.
Progress is evaluated on a quarterly basis.
What if I'm international? Can I still work with you?
I’ve worked with clients all over the world for the last 20 years.
My booking system makes it easy to find a time that works, and we can use an alternative communication platform/software if cell phone access is difficult or costly.
How do I pay?
When you click “Activate” on our simple one-page agreement, you will automatically be sent a PayPal invoice and have immediate access to schedule upcoming sessions.
Alternatively, you can mail a check – my retired CPA on staff (aka “Dad”) absolutely loves depositing business funds into my local Houston account.
What if it doesn't work?
We keep going as long as I’m adding value. If there’s no value, there’s no point in continuing the coaching engagement.
How do I prepare for my sessions?
Fill out the pre-session questonnaire.
Make sure you’re in a private place with no distractions. Let family or co-workers know that you will be unavailable and please set your phone to “Do Not Disturb” mode.
Can I skip a session?
In coaching, the client sets the agenda. While I recommend sticking to the frequency of our agreement, if it looks like more frequent or less frequent sessions would be a better fit, then we adjust accordingly.
Can I reschedule a session?
Of course! My online booking system is simple and easy to use – reschedule at your convenience.
What can I expect during a trial session?
I’ll take some time to understand where you are and where you want to be on both a professional and personal level.
You’ll learn how I work and what I do as a business coach and we’ll determine whether we’re a good fit for working together.
I view this as a mutual interview – I’m not the coach for everyone, and I can’t add value to every situation. There is no charge for a trial session.
Does Coaching by phone really work?
Aside from the benefits of avoiding traffic, working by phone is much more effective than video and for some clients even better than face-to-face.
When talking about sensitive issues where you may feel vulnerable, not being seen helps us to get to the heart of the issue faster and with less discomfort.
