Career Coaching
The old formula of working for the same company for 30+ years is no longer valid.
If you’re looking for what’s next, you fall into one of four categories:
- You know what you want, but you’re having a hard time taking things to the next level.
- You don’t know what you want, but for sure where you are isn’t it.
- You’re relatively satisfied with your career, but you’d like to pivot toward something with more personal meaning.
- You’re no longer interested in working for others and want to create your own thing.
What People Say
The Career Coaching Process
My process is simple and straight forward.
Step One: Make Sure We’re Working with “Clean Information”
We will have a conversation where we’ll be “scanning” for unhelpful ways of thinking that are holding you back. We’ll identify which are most important to address right now, and work to undo them so they’re no longer in your way.
This may include identifying your limiting beliefs – what I call the “gunk” stuck in your filter between your thoughts and the outside world. Some powerful thought processes are lurking there that were heavily influenced by your culture and upbringing.
Through the coaching conversation, your limiting beliefs will either be completely gone or significantly reduced to a point that they do not affect you in any meaningful way.
Step Two: Establish a Framework
While many coaches are all about accountability, I want my clients to have their own accountability systems and to develop habits that support it.
Finding the right system to keep you organized and gaining insights into yourself as a process of continuous improvement is essential, not just for the coaching process, but for you to continue to create a life you love.
We’ll find what works for you, whether its part of something you are already doing or starting from scratch.
Step Three: Prototyping
We’ll evaluate and research the various career trajectories that come out of our work together, without getting another degree or switching to a new company.
Step Four: Taking Action
Once you have the self-awareness, the system and the knowledge to know the next steps, now it’s time for you to go do it.
I’ll be here for whenever you may get stuck and help you resolve the bottlenecks in the way of success.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Career Coaching?
The coaching conversation is designed to shed light on your blind spots, provide new perspectives, identify your innermost values, and to take action on moving toward a career that is fulfilling and challenges you to be your best self.
The goal is for you, the client, to walk away from a coaching engagement lighter, more focused, confident and with a new set of tools to move forward.
How does a coaching engagement work?
We have a conversation once a week for about an hour. Part of my service is unlimited e-mailing. If something is unclear from a previous session or you want to report a “win” that only your coach will understand, write anytime 24-7. I will answer within 24 hours Monday through Friday. Additionally, expect some “homework” assignments between sessions which are either written or involve taking action.
Am I going to have to talk about my emotions?
Where do you think that “heaviness” comes from? You’re hitting an emotional limitation. Yes, we’re probably going to talk about your emotions if we find that this is one of the factors that is holding back your career.
Deciding what’s next can be a scary proposition as there may be some uncertainty, and we’ll work through it to gain clarity in your next steps.
What if it doesn't work?
If I did my part and you did your part, and somehow things don’t work, I have a 100% money-back guarantee.
